CS6795: Introduction to Cognitive Science

This course explored how the mind works, connecting the study of cognitive science to computing through examples such as human-centered computing. I learned about how we process and remember information. At the time I had just moved to Montreal and started learning French, which made the topic personally interesting — interesting enough that I made it the focal point of my major project.

Literature Review: Working Memory and Second Language Acquisition

This paper examines the literature on working memory, second language acquisition (L2 learning), and the connections between the two. It demonstrates that there is a connection between working memory and SLA, and that working memory capacity can change depending on several factors — arguing that capacity shifts with L2 learning progress, mood, and the environment a person is in.
