CS6750: Human-Computer Interaction

This course explored the interactions between humans and technology. It focused on topics such as Don Norman’s seven fundamental design principles, UX analysis, and cognitive walkthroughs.

WhatsApp Interface Analysis

The major project was to go through the full design lifecycle: needfinding, heuristic evaluation, interface redesign, justification, evaluation plan, and execution. I chose to do this on the WhatsApp interface, focusing on the sorting of the chat page, the lack of screen sharing, and filters — these are now features, but weren’t available when I took this course. I surveyed and interviewed users, researched the product, and proposed a new redesign using Figma. This project gave me my first real taste of HCI and changed how I interact with the world around me.
